This is the debut cd from Adelaide based rockers Capulet. This EP is a really solid effort from the young lads which was released by powerhouse indie label Taperjean Records (Closure In Moscow, Fifty Six, The Mission in Motion). While listening to this EP Capulet's sound brings to mind such bands as Saosin, Emarosa and Ivoryline. The songs all hold their own on this cd and the highlights being the first single "Iron in the blood" and the cd closer "Machines". The guitars sound huge (as your expect from Electric Sun Studios) and the vocals are clean, crisp and catchy. Lead Singer Tim Bartel has a very impressive set of lungs which lets him lead the songs with big hooks and catchy choruses. The guitar lines are very impressive influenced by the playing style of bands like Dance Gavin Dance and Saosin. Everything on this is very well balanced, nothing is overpowered or overused. Everything is held in place by a strong rhythm section. Just like any band without a strong rhythm section everything will fall apart.

I have really enjoyed this CD and has been in my stereo since it came out. Great to see such great talent coming out of Australia and even more impressive is that its a solid effort without out having to delve into breakdowns and screams. All the songs are great on this EP my personal highlights are "We Were Here", "Iron In The Blood" and "Machines". Their EP is available nationally through Taperjean and you can get it at any good record store so make sure you go and pick it up.
